Extra Credit

 

#1 Office Hours

 

For 2.5% of extra credit, to be applied to your final course grade, meet with me in office hours (in person or via Zoom) for five minutes one before the middle of the semester/session. 

 

 

#2 Tutoring

 

For 2.5% of extra credit, to be applied to your final course grade, seek out the assistance of our tutor at least twice before the middle part of the semester/session If you are given a slip of paper when you visit our tutor in person, photograph them and send them to me via Canvas as verification that of your visits.  If you visit our tutor via Zoom (etc.), take screenshots of your meetings and send them to me via Canvas as verification that of your visits.  This type of extra credit will be accepted up until the middle part of the semester/session. 

 

 

#3 Option A, On-Campus Event

 

For 2.5% of extra credit, to be applied to your final course grade, attend some on-campus event and apply some of the skills we've developed over the course of the semester. 

 

To receive the full 2.5% of extra credit, explain in three or four paragraphs (no more than two pages) a) the event(s) you attended, b) the relevant points you heard, and c) your application of some of what we've learned over the course the semester to those relevant points.  Send this to me via Canvas.  This type of extra credit will not be accepted before the middle part of the semester/session, or after the date of our final exam. 

 

 

#3 Option B, Newspaper Article

 

For 2.5% of extra credit, to be applied to your final course grade, read newspaper article from a reasonably reputable news outlet having to do with a topic relevant to our course material, and apply the skills we've developed over the course of the semester. 

 

To receive the full 2.5% of extra credit, explain in three or four paragraphs (no more than two pages) a) the article you read, b) the main arguments or points within it, and c) your evaluation of those arguments or points.  Send this to me via Canvas.  This type of extra credit will not be accepted before the middle part of the semester/session, or after the date of our final exam.
